Presidential Leadership Academy Field Trips
As a part of the Presidential Leadership Academy, I participated in several field trips. After each, I wrote blog post(s) about my experiences. Included below are short descriptions of each field trip as well as links to my blog posts.
New York City - Fall 2009
We traveled to New York City in Fall 2009 to examine the financial world in the wake of the economic downfall that occurred in 2008. My blog post, NYC Trip, has more details about the trip and the valuable lessons I learned from the many expert speakers.
Washington D.C. - Spring 2010
In Spring 2010, we traveled to Washington D.C. for an in-depth look at the critical thinking and decision-making involved in issues of national security. We also visited the Holocaust Museum, and we took part in a CIA simulation exercise the day before the trip. Several blogs detail the perspective I gained on the trip: CIA Simulation, Holocaust Museum, A Trip Full of Acronyms, and One Last Thought About the CIA Simulation.
U.S. Army War College - Spring 2012
In Spring 2012, we traveled to Carlisle, PA to visit the U.S. Army War College for an international negotiation simulation. My blog post, U.S. Army War College Trip, details the experience.
San Francisco - Spring 2012
My final PLA trip, in Spring 2012, was across the country to San Francisco. The trip was the perfect capstone to my PLA experience, and I enjoyed every moment! Several blog posts describe the trip: San Francisco (Part 1) and San Francisco Start-up Culture.

Pittsburgh - Fall 2010
We traveled to Pittsburgh in Fall 2010 to examine the city's evolution from a metropolis built on steel manufacturing to what the city has become today. Highlights from the trip are detailed in my blog post, Pittsburgh Trip.
Washington D.C. - Fall 2011
The PLA visited Washington D.C. again in Fall 2011, this time with a focus on the way our country's capitol runs. A recap of what I learned on the trip is included in my blog post, PLA Trip to D.C., Take 2.
