The Presidential Leadership Academy
The Presidential Leadership Academy (PLA) was established in 2008 with a gracious grant from Ed and Helen Hintz. The program was shaped with the following goal in mind:
It is our responsibility to prepare students to understand that the most difficult decisions in today's world require the examination of all sides of an issue. It is in the gray area that the greatest challenges reside.
I was fortunate to be chosen as a member of the inaugural class. Over the course of three years in the program, I had many incredible experiences. These included PLA field trips to cities around the country, participation in a social change project that helped to change University policies, and the opportunity to learn from the University President and Schreyer Honors College Dean in a classroom setting.
Now that I have graduated from the program, I stay active as a member of the PLA Alumni Board. As the Communications Director, I created the PLA Alumni Newsletter to help keep my former classmates in touch with one another.
